This week's FREE boost of the week is hemp seeds. So let's sit down and discuss why you need to take advantage of this superfood this week.
Hemp seeds (also called hemp hearts) have a ton of nutritional benefits but sometimes get lumped in with cannabis and are therefore often misunderstood. Cannabis contains a high amount of the psychoactive ingredient THC and while hemp seeds are a variety of the cannabis plant, they do not have the effect that cannabis has and therefore are perfectly healthy and legal to consume.
Now that the disclaimer is out of the way, let's lay out all the nutritional benefits you can get from these awesome seeds. Your body needs a very large variety of nutrients on a daily basis and there is no better way to get those nutrients than whole foods. Sure supplements are great for additional benefits especially when life gets busy and we don't eat as well as we should. But truly nothing beats the nutrition you get from eating healthy foods and your body can absorb and process foods a whole lot easier than supplements. Here's what hemp seeds bring to the table:
- a great 3:1 ratio of Omega-3 to Omega-6 fatty acids
- "perfect protein" containing 20 amino acids including 9 that our bodies are unable to produce and need to rely on other sources for
- high in both soluble and insoluble fiber
- minerals: iron, calcium, magnesium, manganese, phosphorus, potassium, zinc
- vitamins: A, B1, B2, B3, B6, D, E
^^^^WOW^^^^ Now that's a nutritional powerhouse.
So you're getting all these awesome nutrients, but what does that actually mean? Well there's a whole host of things starting with hormonal support that also trickles down to better hair, skin and nails. And while doing that, they also help to ease joint pain and arthritis. Even more impressive is that they aid in heart health and digestive health <- two HUGE systems that need all the support they can get!
So overall it means BETTER HEALTH, and who doesn't want that?!
