Bringing new and delicious healthy foods to people is our passion and we truly enjoy sharing these awesome foods with everyone! So whether you are a newbie to these superfruits or just interested in learning about health, here’s some basic info so you can be more informed and feel more confident next time you stop in to order a bowl.
Acai (ah-sigh-EE) - it’s ok to ask how to say it ;)
A berry that comes from the rainforest of the Amazon, this superfruit is jam packed with nutrients and has numerous health benefits. Chances are if you have heard of this fruit before, you’ve heard about it’s high levels of antioxidants, but what you may not know is that it is also a great source of iron, calcium, fiber, and vitamin A. Since it is a berry, it is also low in sugar, something to be conscious about when picking fruits. Specifically the Acai berry is helpful in combating problems with digestion, inflammation, obesity, allergies, and low energy. Need any more reasons to try this superfruit??
Pitaya (aka dragonfruit)
The fruit of a cactus native to Central America, this superfruit has a couple looks and may be better known as dragonfruit. Although the fruit is has a white variety, the bright pink (natural) color is our favorite and what makes the Pitaya bowls and smoothies oh so attractive. But looks are not the only impressive part of this fruit. Nutritional benefits such as antioxidants, magnesium, fiber, and vitamin B’s make it a powerhouse and a great addition to a healthy diet. The flavor is often described as a mix between earthy strawberry, pear, and kiwi. It is definitely a lighter more “tropical” flavor than the dark berry flavor of Acai.
So now that you know what it is, come in and try one! Our menu offers always organic and unsweetened Acai and Pitaya as bowls or smoothies and as always feel free to customize and change up anything to your liking.
Do you have a favorite, Acai or Pitaya? Depends on the day, but usually Pitaya
Which one do you want to try first!?
